It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…Bigfoot?

Yep, it turns out that a Bigfoot scavenger hunt, referred to by Rochester Main Street as "the most unusual scavenger hunt in Rochester's history," is currently happening in New Hampshire.

So how does this work, and what are the rules?

According to the Main Street website, volunteers hid 10 Bigfoot cutouts throughout Rochester. Starting today, August 9, the hunt is on. Those who want to join in the quest for Sasquatch first have to scan a QR code on the Bigfoot display at City Hall, which will then bring up a website. From there, you can solve various clues to find the cutouts, all of which are within walking distance of each other.

The website also instructs you to take photos with the cutouts, post them, and include the hashtag #RochesterBigfoot. Once you've found all 10, you'll be able to submit some information and win a $25 gift certificate to a local business of your choosing.

In honor of the search for Bigfoot officially kicking off today, the City of Rochester posted this humorous parody article on Facebook to promote the event. It talks of concerned and watchful residents, mysterious Sasquatch "inhabiting the downtown,", and a reported sighting at a record store:

"Todd Radict, owner of Skeletone Records, reports that he saw Bigfoot browsing the AC/DC section of his store...“He was at least 7 feet tall,” said Radict. “I tried to get a picture but he was gone before I had a chance!”
