It's hard to believe I am going on year three of being a resident of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I feel immense pride to live in a city that goes above and beyond for their community.

I am embarrassed to say that I only just recently learned about the existence of the Pierce Island Outdoor Pool! Good lord, where I have a been? I was on a run a few weeks ago and noticed workers were outside preparing to fill it in. I trotted over to them and introduced myself (shoutout to Lance and the crew!).  They let me snap a few pics of the pool before it was filled. This thing is massive! I'm talking 100 feet wide and over 300 feet in length. Can you say CANNONBALL?!!?!?

And there is a cute little playground right next door for the kiddos.

The City of Portsmouth NH Recreation department has been working tirelessly to get the pool up and running for opening day, and that day is almost here.

The Pool Opens This Saturday, June 25, at 11am

It is free for Portsmouth residents under the age of 18, and for residents 18 and older, it's only $2 a day! What a bargain! They offer swimming lessons, too! I've been meaning to practice my backstroke.

It pains me to learn that this glorious pool has been here all along and I spent two summers in my unconditioned apartment sweating it out. You best believe I will be making up for lost time this summer.
