Christmas spirit was out and about in full effect for a little Dartmouth girl who restored complete faith in humanity.

Three-year-old Ariya of Dartmouth was diagnosed with leukemia recently over the summer and immediately knew that the holidays were going to be a little different this year – as in nonexistent. A typical toddler would ask for toys, but not Ariya. She wanted one thing this Christmas: to have a parade pass by her house.

SInce Ariya's immune system is weak from receiving chemotherapy, she's unable to go most places and cannot be exposed to others without compromising her own health. It's a sad way to live, and unfortunately, this is life right now for little Ariya. I knew right then and there that I had to help out as best as possible, and boy was it successful.

Detective Kyle Costa of the Dartmouth Police Department was the first to reach out to me in hopes that we could throw together a makeshift parade for Ariya and the turnout was quite impressive for a Monday at noon. South Coast Jeep Club represented with strength in numbers as the jacked-up beasts began filling the Big Value parking lot where we all met. Once 12 p.m. arrived, all involved in the parade lined up and set off for the surprise of a lifetime.

With Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Minnie Mouse on board, one by one, police cruisers, fire trucks, EMS ambulances, and all-terrain Jeeps lined up and proceeded to Ariya's house for a drive-by she'll never forget. To all who showed up to make this little girl's Christmas complete, I am forever grateful.

Merry Christmas, Ariya, and many more.
