Everything You Need to Know About the Monumental Change Coming to the Augusta Civic Center
For over half a century, the Augusta Civic Center has been one of Maine's premiere concert venues and event spaces.
Years before the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, and decades before the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor, welcomed their first concerts, the Augusta Civic Center was hosting some of the country's biggest musical acts.
Artists who have taken the stage at the Augusta Civic Center include Elvis, Aerosmith, Alabama, Willie Nelson, The Oak Ridge Boys, Kenny Rogers, George Strait, and Alan Jackson. That's just a fraction of the performers hosted by the venue over the last 50 years.

In addition to concerts and basketball games, the facility has hosted numerous trade shows, gala events, wedding receptions, and conferences over the decades.
We've heard rumors that it was going to happen for some time, but it has now been confirmed that a major change is coming to the Augusta Civic Center.
What is the Major Change Coming to the Augusta Civic Center?
According to a recent article in the KJ, the main auditorium at the Augusta Civic Center will soon have a new name.
The article explains that the Augusta City Council voted unanimously to sell the naming rights of the civic center's auditorium.
The Paul G. Poulin Auditorium, named after the former Augusta city manager from 1965 to 1983, will soon be renamed the Hammond Lumber Auditorium.
The building supply company will pay about $828,000 for the 10-year naming rights contract.
The most striking of several things included in the naming rights deal will be the inclusion of the Hammond Lumber logo on the basketball court.
The main entrance of the facility will soon be rededicated to Poulin.
