If you love Chick-fil-A, there is a good chance that you really love Chick-fil-A.  Personally, I have seen lovers of those chicken sandwiches drive over an hour (one way) in order to get their hands on one.

Of course, one of the biggest hang-ups for a lot of people is the fact that the restaurants are not open on Sundays.

According to the company’s website, the restaurants have always been closed on Sundays.  The practice was started by the founder, Truett Cathy.  After spending years working strange hours in restaurants that were open 24/7, he decided that he wanted to make sure his employees had some consistency with regard to having a day off.

On top of that, many religions have services on Sundays.  Being closed Sundays meant that no one needed to juggle their schedule in order to go to a religious service.

That policy of being closed on Sundays may soon change at some Chick-fil-A locations in the northeast.

According to All Recipes, Chick-fil-A may soon be required to be open on Sundays.  A new bill introduced in the State of New York legislature would require all restaurants in transportation hubs to be open seven days a week.

The bill, which was introduced in December 2023, says:

Requires that food services at transportation facilities and rest areas owned and operated by certain public authorities remain open seven days a week.

If the New York state bill ends up being signed into law, how long will it be before we see similar legislation enacted in other states?

Also, if the bill becomes law, will we see non-transportation hub Chick-fil-A locations begin to open on Sundays?  While it is super convenient to have a day that you can count on having off, there is a good chance that you'll be able to find enough volunteers to work on Sundays.

We'll keep an eye on this story and bring you updates as we learn more.
