America’s Best School Systems Are in Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, & Massachusetts

Even though you will always find at least a few parents in every school system who have an issue with the education their children are getting, for the most part, we are lucky to have such great schools in New England.

In addition to having some of the most caring teachers in the country, our New England schools often benefit from smaller class sizes and sufficient funding.  On top of that, many schools in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and other parts of New England lack the safety issues that schools in other places have.

Recently, WalletHub released a report on the states with the best school systems.

For the most part, New England led the charge.

The article explains that the determination was based on several factors.  The article says, in part:

Unlike other research that focuses primarily on academic outcomes or school finance, WalletHub’s analysis takes a more comprehensive approach. It accounts for performance, funding, safety, class size and instructor credentials. To determine the top-performing school systems in America, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 32 key metrics.

The States With the Best School Districts

1 - Massachusetts - The Bay State led the charge with an overall score of just over 74.  Massachusetts ranked #1 in Quality and #2 in Safety.

2 - Connecticut - The state ranked #2 in Quality and #6 in Safety.

3 - New Jersey - The Garden State had an overall rank of 63.81

4 - Virginia - The state had an overall rank of 61.32

5 - New Hampshire - The Granite State had an overall rank of 60.80.  New Hampshire had a Quality rank of 4 and came in at #15 on the Safety scale.

Elsewhere in New England, Rhode Island came in at 7th place overall and Maine was in 14th place.

The worse schools in the United States were found in Alaska , Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
