How did this magical place come to life?

According to Atlas Obscura, all started when a local carpenter started building these gloriously small wooden houses and mounted them on trees throughout the trail.

But the little houses were empty, and that is where the true whimsy began!

As per Atlas Obscura, Nini Christensen and Beth Flynn came up with the brilliant idea to fill these little houses with gnomes, so they teamed up with art students from Rangeley Lakes Regional School and worked together to create tiny ceramic figures.

According to the site, as time went on, the village grew and now you will discover an entire trail system showered with these charming gnome homes. And it's all waiting for you to feel the magic!
