How is Maine’s favorite season even decided? It seems subjective, right? Everyone has their own unique favorite season for different reasons.

Breck’s Flower Bulbs used Google Trends data from December 2017 to December 2021 to determine ‘The Most Popular Season in Every U.S. State.’ By analyzing online search interest over this four-year period, they were able to assess trends in seasonal preferences. In addition to the data analysis, Breck’s also conducted a survey of 1,000 Americans to gather insights on favorite and least favorite seasonal activities, foods, and related preferences. Together, the Google Trends data and the survey results formed the basis for determining America's favorite seasons by state.

So, what was selected as Maine’s favorite season?

According to Breck’s Flower Bulbs and their data from Google Trends, Maine’s favorite season is Autumn. ‘Vacationland’ made an unexpected choice, as only two other states, West Virginia and Tennessee, also selected Autumn as their favorite.

Spring is America's favorite season, with 40 states choosing it as the best time of year.

The Midwest, West, and South especially enjoy spring, while summer is the most popular season in the Northeast. Many Americans are social and enjoy outdoor activities in both summer and spring. Interestingly, Alaska and Vermont prefer winter the most. In Vermont’s case, there’s at least some great skiing and snowboarding in the Green Mountains, right?
