New Hampshire Restaurant Named Most Beautiful by ‘People Magazine’
This rustic restaurant and inn is tucked away in Durham, New Hampshire.
According to Seacoastonline, People Magazine collaborated with OpenTable to name the most beautiful restaurant in every state. In New Hampshire, that title falls upon Three Chimney Inn in Durham. They were looking for "fairytale-inspired gardens, tropical rooftop escapes, and avant-garde art installation," according to People.
Three Chimneys Inn offers the rustic charm that is plentiful in New England.
Why was Three Chimneys Inn in Durham, New Hampshire, named the "most beautiful"?
It was built in 1649 by entrepreneur Valentine Hill. That's part of its beauty. Here's some of what People Magazine said about the dining:
Choose from three ultra-cozy rooms—hello, fireplaces—to enjoy this historic inn’s take on traditional New England fare.
The three cozy rooms include the Maples room (pictured above), and the Coppers room (pictured below).
You can also pick the Terrace, which is seasonal. We New Englanders know that means it's open for about two months.
As you can imagine, getting national recognition is a big deal, and Three Chimneys Inn was grateful for the nod.
It's one of the oldest houses in New Hampshire.
This 1649 homestead listed on the National Register of Historic Places became Three Chimneys Inn – ffrost Sawyer Tavern in 1997. It's the oldest house in Durham, and one of the oldest buildings in New Hampshire. There is remarkable history in this restored historic landmark. The ffrost Sawyer Tavern is not a typo. In the 1800s, George ffrost the second bought the property.
I know it's beautiful and historic, but is the food at Three Chimneys Inn good?
They make their meals from scratch with "exceptional, homegrown flavor." They also work closely with local farms and growers to pick fresh ingredients for entrees and cocktails. This is farm-to-table food that highlights the best of New Hampshire. The short answer is yes, it is good!
Congratulations to Three Chimneys Inn – ffrost Sawyer Tavern for the well-deserved honor!
