Iconic 'Dukes of Hazzard' General Lee Car Made a Stop in Maine

Growing up in the late '70s and '80s, I was a big fan of The Dukes of Hazzard. Every kind from eight to 18 was. It ran for seven seasons on CBS, and according to Wikipedia, it was consistently the number two show on primetime TV behind Dallas. I'm pretty sure that's because the parents would let the kids watch Dukes of Hazzard while they waited for Dallas to come on next.

My brother and I were such big fans that we got the Dukes of Hazzard racetrack for Christmas.

The real star of the show was the Duke Boys' car, a 1969 Dodge Charger. Not just one, but 325 Dodge Chargers painted a red-orange with the number 01 on the doors. It was constantly outrunning Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane in car chases, and it always launched in the air to jump over things.

A replica of that famous car made a stop here in Maine last week when the Northeast Ohio Dukes made a pit stop on the way up to the Moncton Collissium in Canada to be part of a stunt show.

The group shared some photos on their Facebook page during their stop in Maine, and included a few photos of the Duke Boys' car, just like it looked in the TV show.

By the way, let's pretend that that awful Dukes of Hazzard movie with Sean William Scott, Johnny Knoxville, and Jessica Simpson never happened, okay? Don't mess with classic '80s TV like that.
