Too Cold to Play Outside? A New Indoor Playground for Kids Just Opened at the Maine Mall
The single-digit biting cold temperatures in Maine make it a bit more difficult for kids to play outside for long stretches in the winter.
You've probably looked up places online where you might be able to take the little ones, so they aren't just bouncing off the walls at home and/or pulling every toy out that you just took the time to clean up and put away.
Well, there's a new spot that opened at the Maine Mall you can add to your list of kid-friendly activities to try: Go Playland.
Go Playland Opens in South Portland at the Maine Mall
Go Playland announced on its Instagram page that it officially opened at the Maine Mall in South Portland as of Sunday, January 22, 2026.
This brand new indoor playground is located directly next to Spencer's and near JCPenney in the mall. It features a variety of colorful structures centered around an aquatic theme.
So prepare for the kids to run, climb, and slide around a giant ship, a slide that looks like a wave, and more. There's even a huge shark head near the entrance to play around.
Another social media post lays out what to expect: "From exciting play structures to safe, clean, and family-friendly spaces, Go Playland is the ideal place for kids to play freely while parents relax."
How Much Does Go Playland at the Maine Mall in South Portland?
Go Playland is $25 per kid, with the first parent free and the second parent $5. If you have two kids, both parents are free.
There is no set time frame for playtime either, since it's an all-day admission fee. Meaning you can leave and come back the same day for no extra charge.
Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the same hours as the mall.
Just note that this playground is geared toward the younger ages, with Go Playland highlighting an age range of 1 to 12 years old.
