Congratulations to Maine’s Julia Gagnon in ‘American Idol”s Top 7
Maine’s Julia Gagnon is one step closer to being the next American Idol.
If it's exciting for us to watch, I can't imagine what it's like for 22-year-old Julia Gagnon. In case you've been living under a rock, Julia's been smashing it on American Idol since the auditions, when she was awarded a platinum ticket. The history major still in college from Cumberland, Maine, is now in your Top 7!
Last night, the Top 8 performed one of three songs secretly selected by Luke, Katy, and Lionel. The judges had a side contest for most songs chosen. America voted live for the Top 6, and the judges made a save for the Top 7 (plus, a special tribute to Idol alum Mandisa). Our girl Julia sang the classic, "Over the Rainbow". As she said herself, if you're going to sing it differently, you have to kill it. And she killed it.
I'm not even related to Julia, yet I was on pins and needles waiting to see if she made it into the Top 7! She was the first name announced as safe!! That is life-changing in itself. Since the beginning of Idol in 2002, the top five to 12 have gone on tour. She could make around $150,000 for six months of work. Not too bad if she goes no further up the Idol ladder. But look out, 'cause this Maine girl has the pipes and likability to go a whole lot further!
She needs your vote to keep going!
How can I vote for Mainer Julia Gagnon?
Voting is very important! Without your vote, Julia could be sent home. Voting starts on Sunday nights at 8 p.m., with the results live after the last commercial break. Then they do it all again on Monday! If you are dedicated, you can vote up to 30 times for a contestant (Julia), 10 times online, 10 on the American Idol app, or text your vote 10 times. It's actually up to us to help her fulfill her destiny!
All of Maine has your back, Julia!
