Maine isn't just a seafood spot. In fact, the variety of tasty options you can get across the state is remarkable, especially considering the number of new places popping up every month.

Over 50 new restaurants opened their doors in Maine by the end of June 2026, and then July brought in 11 more.

We're talking Mexican, Vietnamese, farm-to-table, seafood, pubs, diners, etc. Forget dreaming of food. It's here and now.

One new July restaurant that stood out was The Tin Roof Diner. While many Maine spots offer gluten-free options, this one features a menu that is primarily gluten-free.

The Lincoln County News reported that owner Candice Kennedy started cooking gluten-free foods after her daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease, and that soon led to the diner, in part, giving kids and families with dietary restrictions a place to eat without feeling singled out.

Located in Dresden, about 30 minutes from Augusta or Brunswick, you'll find breakfast and lunch waiting at a place where those who need to be gluten-free can happily eat. I know a few people who will be thrilled this exists in Maine.

On the other hand, seeing an establishment expand to more locations is a great sign that the popular venture can be enjoyed in other spaces as well.

Azul Agave brought a new Mexican restaurant to Sanford in 2025, and per the Portland Press Herald, three more spots are on the way.

The latest one is in Ogunquit, and as its website states, it brings "a celebration of the authentic flavors and traditions of Mexican cuisine."

The newspaper does highlight that there will be some different foods at the Ogunquit location, "offering items like street food-style tacos and tortas on housemade ciabatta."

Honestly, the fact that the place doesn't close at 8 p.m. and stays open until at least 10 p.m. is a big win. How often do you look for a spot later at night to eat but find out so many close what feels like early?

I continue to be amazed by all the new places and foods available in Maine. As I've said before, I'm well aware of how tough the restaurant industry can be, so for the people behind the ventures, passionately bringing their dreams and foods to their local communities, I have nothing but respect.

Good luck, keep bringing the deliciousness, and hopefully, people will get to keep enjoying your spots for years to come.
