Holy Donut is taking over the now-defunct Tim Houton's on Route One in Brunswick. Don't start drooling yet. You've got to wait until the spring of 2024.

What makes Holy Donut so special?

There's gotta be something about this donut that would make people wait in a giant line. This was the line back when they had a location in Portland's Old Port on Exchange Street. People lined up to get that donut!

Not just a donut, a donut made with potatoes! If you want to be entertained, check out the line for their Commercial Street location in Portland. Tourists will line up and wait. It is pretty darn tasty. It's special too. It's pure Maine in a donut, so much so that at one wedding I went to, they didn't have a wedding cake. They had a wall of Holy Donuts! You can imagine how excited I was to have been invited to this wedding!

They are also on Park Avenue in Portland, Route 1 in Scarborough, and Portland Road in Arundel. Sorry Rockland, Waterville, and Bangor. You were in the running for their fifth location, but Brunswick beat you out. But keep the faith, because as popular as this yummy potato donut is, you may see one in the future.

Congratulations, Holy Donut! We love ya and can't wait to wait in line in Brunswick.
