Maine Needs a Mobile Irish Pub Service Like This One in Massachusetts
It's not very often that I get envious of Massachusetts. I'm pretty content with everything we have here in Maine, but a friend of mine shared some photos on Facebook of a neighbor having a party in a mobile Irish pub parked in his driveway. What?
The Wandering Druid was created by Barry Shannon and Michael John Queally who both grew up in Ireland but landed here in the states in Massachusetts. While working at The Druid pub in Inman Square in Cambridge, they found that they got a lot of requests to host weddings, parties, and private events at The Druid. That gave them a better idea.
There was a mobile Irish pub business back in their hometown in Ireland and they decided to use that formula to open their own in Massachusettes and call it "The Wandering Druid." It's a miniature Irish pub on wheels, very much like a camper, but looking exactly like a pub inside and out.
It has seating for up to 14 people and standing room for up to 25, but it includes an outdoor beer garden. The only thing a customer needs to provide is their own beer because of laws and stuff, but they'll be happy to connect kegs to the beer taps for you.
This is pretty amazing and leaves me with the question: Why isn't there something like this in Maine?
I spent a good hour searching Google to see if anyone is doing something similar here in Maine and the best I could find was an inflatable pub. That sounds like it could be a problem if your buddy has one too many and puts a hole in the wall.
Someone needs to start working on this, pronto!
