All of this mild weather and snow melt has us Mainers thinking one thing: golf season is almost here.

You know, that wonderful time of year where we hit the course and put ourselves in a mental pretzel to try and play one of the most frustrating yet fun games there is.

And with golf season comes one of Maine's premier charitable events, the Drive Fore Kids Celebrity Golf Tournament. It's an amazing event that attracts stars from the entertainment, music, and sports worlds, all for a wonderful cause.

The 2025 Drive Fore Kids Tournament Raised Thousands for Important Maine Causes

The celebrity lineup for last year's tournament was especially impressive. Vince Carter, Jim Rice, Michael Peña, Carly Chaikin, and Jon Lester were just some of the big names who teed off in support of a great cause.

Held once again at the Falmouth Country Club, the tournament was a tremendous success, raising over $200,000 for the Dempsey Center and the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital. It’s yet another example of the incredible charitable spirit we have here in Maine.

The total prize purse for the celebrities was $265,000, with the winner taking home $50,000. Not a bad chunk of change for a weekend of work. Plus, is golf really work?

At the end of the day, the tournament crowned its first-ever two-time winner, as former tennis champion Mardy Fish claimed victory for the second consecutive year. Fish narrowly edged out former NHL star Joe Pavelski by two points in the modified Stableford scoring format. Finishing in third place was Army veteran and disabled golf champion Chad Pfeifer.
