Portland, Maine’s Craft Beer Scene Is Booming—Here Are the Top Spots Right Now

As of this publishing, there are over 100 breweries in the state. In 2024, Maine had the second-highest brewery per capita number (14.3) in the country. That's a wonderful stat for the Pine Tree State.

And now that Maine is an international brand, more tourists continue to roll in. It's just more great news for an industry whose economic impact is similar to Luxembourg. I don't know if that's true, but it sounds accurate...in my head.

We spend massive amounts of time discussing and dissecting every little aspect about the Maine craft beer industry. Whether it's Portland, the surrounding area, Bar Harbor, or the Midcoast, the touristy areas of Maine are well-covered. It literally feels like there's a good chance at least one brewery is withing 20 miles of every location in Maine.

I decided to take a look at Portland' breweries. Lord knows there's enough of them. Maine's largest city has a diverse group that include both young and old, large and micro, gluten free and grainy as can be. It's a smorgasbord of flavor.
