We’ve officially entered summer mode here in Maine. The weather is finally catching up, so it’s time to start gearing up for the short but very sweet season.
I’m always surprised when people leave Maine in the summer. Isn’t this what we wait for all year? Those precious few months of perfect weather, warm lakes, cold drinks, long evenings, fire pits, and endless patio time. After enduring a Maine winter, why would anyone want to be anywhere else?
Maine Summer is Short, But Sweet
I try to cherish every single day before the weather starts to turn, which means cramming in as much as humanly possible within a very short window.
My wife and I have explored much of the southern part of the state over the years—eating, drinking, hiking, and soaking in everything Maine has to offer. There’s a wealth of incredible experiences here, but some stand out more than others.
Below is a list of what I think makes Southern Maine so amazing in the summer. It’s a diverse mix of experiences scattered throughout Cumberland and York counties, ranging from food and drinks to beaches and hikes.
