A popular coastal Southern Maine town is receiving some serious recognition from a familiar source.

The fine travel writers over at loveEXPLORING decided to compile a list of the most beautiful towns across America. In fact, the site selected one from every state to be represented, including one from Maine. The Pine Tree State's selection is a town known for its incredible beauty, history, location, and entertainment. That town is York.

Located near the New Hampshire border, York is one of the many absolutely stunning coastal Maine towns. This Southern Maine hamlet is well-known as a tourist favorite with its beautiful beach, tasty food, great shopping district, stunning river walks, and even the smallest suspension bridge in the world. Honestly, I'm not sure what is missing from this incredible town.

While it's a wonderful stop in the summer, don't be afraid to enjoy the small town in other seasons, especially around Christmas. That is when you will experience the entire town getting into the spirit, including Nubble Lighthouse, which absolutely steals the show.

York is also an absolute hotbed of saltwater taffy. What's not to love about this town?

But don't just take my word for it. Here is a little from loveEXPLORING on why York was selected as Maine's loveliest town.

Maine has more neat historic towns than you can shake a stick at, but York still remains one of the most charming. Historic buildings still abound...from the Old Gaol to historic Jefferds' Tavern. A standout sight is the Nubble Lighthouse, which dates to the 1800s.

It's great to see York get some worldwide love. It's such a charming little seaside town. The beach is very underrated, there's a great cliff walk, the town has an excellent food scene, Mount Agamenticus is very nearby, and there's even a zoo. It essentially checks off all the boxes.

Congratulations once again to York. It's always great to see Maine towns get national and international recognition, especially when it's deserving. York certainly fits that description.
