There are several very unique and very photographed lighthouses across the state of Maine.

One of the most photographed lighthouses in the world sits off the coast of Cape Neddick, Maine. It's the Nubble Lighthouse, which sees a lot of action in the summer. But in a rarity, the Nubble also sees a lot of attention in the winter.

That's because it's decorated in twinkling lights like it's headed for a holiday party. That glowing lighthouse has been featured on postcards, television shows and countless social media stories.

And this summer, you won't have to brave the cold Maine winter to see it glow in person.

The Nubble Lighthouse Will Turn on Light Display For One Summer Week

According to Seacoast Online, the Nubble Lighthouse plans to make it feel like the holidays for one week this summer.

Back by popular demand, the Nubble will showcase its holiday display in the evening from Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 9.

The Nubble Lighthouse is doing this to coincide with a town celebration in York, Maine, that will cap the final lighting weekend with a ton of fun events.

York Days in York, Maine, Features Family-Friendly Fun Including Fireworks

Like several towns throughout Maine, York uses one week every summer to showcase the beauty and creativity that exists inside the city.

The York Days celebration runs will be condensed in 2026 to one long weekend running from Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9.

There will be a large craft fair, a 5k road race and beachside fireworks amongst the events being held.
