For the past 20 years or so, malls across the country and some right here in Maine have struggled to stay relevant and draw customers in.

That hasn't been the case for the Maine Mall in South Portland, however. The biggest mall in the state has somehow found a way to navigate some major retail closures including one of the mall's anchors in Sears.

2026 has gotten off to a rough start for some pretty notable brands inside the mall. In case you missed it, here are 4 different spots inside the Maine Mall that have closed in 2026.

Leggings Home

Located adjacent to the food court, Leggings Home officially closed at the Maine Mall in South Portland back in January.

Leggings Home is the largest retail chain the country for leggings but couldn't seem to find its footing at the Maine Mall.

There was no specific reason given as to why Leggings Home closed their Maine Mall location. The space remains vacant.

Eddie Bauer

Perhaps a little under the radar with other headlines taking precedent, Eddie Bauer quietly filed for bankruptcy and began liquidation sales across the country.

The Eddie Bauer location at the Maine Mall spent most of February and March closing out all inventory before permanently closing.

The space currently remains vacant.

Francesca's

Similar to Eddie Bauer, the Francesca's brand decided 2026 would be its last year after filing bankruptcy.

The chain closed all of their more than 400 stores nationwide, including their location inside the Maine Mall.

Liquidation sales finished at the end of March and the space is currently vacant.

Orangetheory Fitness

The Orangetheory Fitness location at the Maine Mall in South Portland closed permanently on April 10.

It appears to be part of a consolidation effort that is happening at many other Orangetheory locations across the nation.
