Rarity: A McDonald’s Restaurant Location in Maine Has Closed
When it comes to fast food chains in Maine, there's something you rarely see. One of the major, global leaders in the fast food industry close a location.
Typically, whenever you see a location of Burger King or Dunkin' close, the issues with that location were far deeper than the food or service.
Generally when a major fast food restaurant chain closes, there are deeper financial issues, ownership issues or franchise compliance issues.
What is especially rare in Maine is when a McDonald's location closes. But that appears to be what happened in Kennebunk, Maine, over the last few days.
McDonald's in Kennebunk, Maine, Closes Down at the End of May
Located at 2 Post Office Square, the McDonald's location in Kennebunk, Maine, has officially gone dark.
People on Facebook lamented its closure for the city as the fast food chain is one of the few places to grab and go food without leaving your vehicle.
Others stated they could see the end coming as the Kennebunk McDonald's seemed to be habitually understaffed and wait times had increased in recent months.
However, there is no confirmation as of this writing from ownership of the franchise that the Kennebunk, Maine, location is closed permanently.
Is The McDonald's Location in Kennebunk, Maine, Really Closed For Good?
There are more than 60 McDonald's restaurants across Maine and over the last decade, many of them have closed for a significant portion of time to renovate or rebuild the restaurant entirely.
Unforunately, that doesn't seem to be the case with the Kennebunk McDonald's. That location is operating under McDonald's current franchise guidelines so it does not appear to be a renovation.
Despite the fact that the corporate McDonald's website lists the location as open as well as Google listing it as open, calls to the location when unanswered and mobile food ordering appears to be disabled.
It does appear to be a true rarity. A McDonald's in Maine that has closed permanently.
