There's a lot of different ways to camp throughout the state of Maine.

For some, they enjoy camping without any amenities whatsoever. Roughing it as a way of life.

Others prefer a handful of amenities. Working bathrooms, a fire pit and perhaps a nearby convenience store just in case.

Some want to camp in a more glamorous style with all of the amenities and a touch of nature.

But there's one specific style of camping that you won't find anywhere in Maine. At least, not legally. That would be camping completely nude.

You'll have a to take a road trip for that.

There's an Official Nude Campground Less Than 3 Hours From Portland, Maine

Just under a three-hour drive from Portland, Maine, is a 200-acre campground that subscribes to the notion that nature should be enjoyed in the nude.

It's called Dyer Woods and it's an official nudist campground located in Foster, Rhode Island.

Just like most traditional campgrounds you'd find in Maine, Dyer Woods has plenty of amenities from a swimming pool to a sauna as well as indoor and outdoor showers and facilities.

There just happens to be the requirement that you enjoy your camping experience clothes-free.

Dyer Woods Nudist Campground in Foster, Rhode Island, is Open to The Public

Dyer Woods is welcoming to anyone curious about nude camping including first-timers.

They have a handful of policies to keep everyone happy and safe and advertise that the community that exists at Dyer Woods every summer is incredibly welcoming.

Dyer Woods has set their opening day for Friday, May 22.
