If you're a cat lover and you live anywhere near Newmarket, New Hampshire, you might want to visit the cat cafe, Tipsy Tabby. But be aware, the cats rule here, and you come second.

Every cat and their owners would agree with that statement.

Rescue Cats Are Up for Adoption

The owners of the shop, Kaitlyn and John Ferretti, are long-time cat lovers (of course) who take very good care of their felines.

They get them from area shelters, and yes, the kitties are up for adoption.

Leap of Faith

Kaitlyn and John took a leap of faith when they bought the building that now houses the Tipsy Tabby, but they probably didn't realize how much of a leap it would end up being.

They purchased the Newmarket building two weeks before the shutdown of the pandemic.

Book Ahead

If you are as excited as I was about this place, you might want to make an appointment to hang out with your feline friends.

You can walk in to see if they have space available, but why chance it?

Rules

There are some things you should know before you go, according to their website:

  • If you are bringing children, all of them under the age of 13 have to have someone with them.
  • If you have to cancel for whatever reason, you can get a refund if it's made over the phone, with 24 hours' notice.

You Can Rent the Entire Cat Lounge

It's a cool space, but it doesn't hold too many people.  I think Kaitlyn told me they only allow eight people in at a time, but you can rent the entire space.

Food and Drink

The food and drinks at the Tipsy Tabby are available, but they are certainly not the main event – the cats are.  Having said that, they have a wonderful selection of hot cocoa, tea, and baked goods for you to enjoy while visiting Cagney & Lacey, two of the cats pictured here.

You can just go get a beverage without saying hello to the cats, but why would you?  They are right there!
