In the Summer, there is nothing better than a plate of fried clams and a side of french fries, right?  People travel from all over New England to get some of New Hampshire's delectable delights from the Atlantic.  But did you know that some of these places stay open year-round?  It's true.

It's not like the clams and the lobsters just cease to exist when the weather gets colder, they are still alive and well waiting for the fine fishermen of New England to come and deliver them to our bellies.

You can also get clam STRIPS, if that's your thing, but seriously, what are you?  6 years old?  Because that's how old I was when I ate boxed mac & cheese and clam strips.  But, despite the snarky sound of that, I don't judge you.  You do you.

Ceal's in Seabrook is closed for the season, but they'll be back in the Summer of 2026, oh yes they will.

Difference in Taste of a New England Summer Clam vs. a Winter Clam

As far as I'm aware, there is really no difference in taste for a winter clam vs. a summer clam.  Maybe, if I had to say something about that, the Summer clams might be a bit sweeter and the winter ones a bit saltier, but there's not much of a difference.  If I have a hankerin' for fried clams in December, I am immediately transported to Hampton Beach in July.
