The James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards have many categories, perhaps none as wholesome and important as the America's Classics Award.

The America's Classic Award is given to six restaurants across the USA. The winning restaurants have "timeless appeal... are beloved by the region...and offer food that reflects the local culture and community," according to the James Beard website.

And one Massachusetts restaurant won the America's Classic Award during their 75th year of service!

Sullivan's Castle Island, South Boston, MA:

Sullivan's Castle Island, or "Sully's" as the locals call it, has been slinging snack shack style foods for 75 years.

When Sully's first started, in 1951, they were slinging hot dogs and burgers from their small concession stand, according to their website. The food was reasonably priced, and guaranteed to be quality - a commitment they have upheld for decades.

Today, Sullivan's offers ice cream, hot dogs, their famous double smash burger, lobster rolls, and more.
