Now that we are embarking on the chilly season, there is nothing more comforting than a chicken pot pie fresh out of the oven.

Not all pot pies are created equal, and to achieve the perfect CPP, an important balance must be struck.

The crust must be crispy and flaky; not overcooked to the point that it's dry and not undercooked to the point that it's mushy.

The filling must be the perfect ratio of chicken to peas and carrots, (the more chicken the better in my opinion). The milk and chicken broth are essential to establish the perfect creaminess and the right dash of thyme, sage, salt, and pepper can really turn this dish up to 11.

When it comes to chicken pot pies on the Seacoast, according to the trustworthy members of the Seacoast Eats Facebook page, there is one farmstand that really stands apart from all the rest.

That establishment is Riverside Farmstand in South Berwick, Maine. It's an institution and has been in the Tuttle family since 1743. This farm is older than the U.S.A for crying out loud!

If you peep their reviews on Facebook, you will see their take-home pot pies be praised over and over again.

I'm not sure what secret ingredient is in these bad boys but my guess is it's "love."

Delicious-looking, right?

Check out Riverside Farmstand on 323 Elm St in South Berwick, Maine. You won't be disappointed!
