Never. There is never a bad time to own a dog...

Okay, there actually is, and it is right now.

Oh, you thought owning a dog in the winter was tough? It's really not.

In the winter, owning a dog in New England is fun. The joy they have in the snow is adorable, they tire themselves out SO easily, and sure, the snow is wet...but the snow is "clean."

Here is where it gets bad: springtime.

The first week is a tragedy. You HAVE to pick up a winters worth of dog poop. And yes, you have to do it early spring before it starts to rain.

Frozen solid? Not ready. Washing away all over the yard? Too late.

Then, after the pick up comes the mud season - far worse than winter.

It rains a lot in spring, so just like winter, the dogs are bringing in wetness...but now they have muddy paws, not just wet paws. Oh, and then they do the wet shake ALL over the house, usually in the worst place like right next to you in a new pair of pants.

Not to mention a lot of dogs HATE going outside in the rain (which we all understand). But we have to forcibly push our dogs out into the rain to go to the bathroom...and that is just sad

PLUS, since they don't want to go out in the rain ('cause who does), their energy inside is WILD. Mix that energy with those muddy paws, and this is the worst time to own a dog in New England.

I still love my 2 doodes, though!
