The Dyrt just came out with a list of the 5 best campgrounds in the Northeast Region, 2025, and the #1 campsite in the Northeast was in New Hampshire.

Town Hall Road, White Mountain National Forest, Chatham, New Hampshire

Camping on Town Hall Road in the White Mountains is pure bliss. It is one of the many free, dispersed camping areas in the White Mountains. Dispersed camping comes with many pros and equally as many cons.

Town Hall Road, in Chatham, NH, and other dispersed camping sites, are often free, have FAR less people allowing for a more private trip, and have better views of rivers without a crowd.

The downfall to a place like this is there are no amenities - no water, no bathrooms, certainly no lights and showers. So you pack in, and you MUST pack out.
