It's about that time of year that we've all had it with Winter in New Hampshire. The once fresh blanket of white snow is a dirty, slushy, mess. Enough already! We are ready for warmer temps and longer days.

Once we can check all the boxes below, we will know that Spring has officially sprung in the Granite State:

  • All the snow has melted
  • Birds are backing to singing their sweet songs; robins, chickadees, woodpeckers, and even the occasional osprey.
  • Flowers are in bloom like crocuses, snowdrops, and daffodils.
  • The days are warmer (in New England this means 60 degrees or above)
  • Streams and Rivers swell from snow melting
  • Maple trees are ready to be tapped for maple syrup
  • You start to see bugs again!
  • The days are longer with later sunsets and earlier sunrises
  • Mud Season is upon us
  • Other human beings emerge from their homes and are outside enjoying the fresh air.

But the most glaring and "you know you're in New Hampshire" sign that Spring is almost here can be explained in the meme below I saw on the New Hampshire Reddit thread:

I cackled when I saw this traffic cone referred to as the New Hampshire state flower!

The winning comment came from a Reddit user goes by the name ZenRiot:

The traffic cone's Shadow is still larger than the pothole, so no, there will be eight more weeks of winter.

Some people are so darn clever.
