On August 21, 2025, a Facebook post from New England Pizza & Roast Beef revealed the big closing announcement.

In the post, owner Jay Picard stated that "with much love and gratitude, I would like to announce that we will be closing. After being here for nearly 30 years, first as a GM then nearly 13 years as the owner, it is finally time to move to something new."

He added that he's enjoyed bonding with the community and appreciated "all of those who have stuck by my side throughout my time of being open. As well as those who have come in, even if that may have only been once."

Why Is New England Pizza & Roast Beef Closing?

Like many restaurants that have had to close over the years, there are a variety of reasons as to why.

Picard told Foster's Daily Democrat that "the economy is really hard right now."

According to the newspaper, he noted worker shortage and a major renovation at the plaza where the pizza place is located contributed to his decision.

That and he said he's ready to spend some time for himself.
