This Little Hidden Gem New Hampshire Restaurant Has One of the Best Burgers in the US
It's no secret that I'm a huge foodie. And one of my favorite things to indulge in? Burgers!
I'm always on the hunt for the next unforgettable bite.
That's why I had to check out a recent list from Tasting Table highlighting the best hole-in-the-wall burger joints in every state.
For New Hampshire, the honor went to Papa Joe's Humble Kitchen in Milford.

The publication mentioned the restaurant's award-winning burgers and recommended "Matt's Steakhouse Burger." So you're probably like me and wondering what comes on it!? That would be onion rings, cheddar cheese, bacon, ranch dressing and lettuce.
Wow! My mouth is already watering...
Another highly recommended component? The double-fried sweet potato fries! They've become a favorite among customers.
I feel like Papa Joe's already gets me. Sweet fries are my go-to side when I order burgers.
What makes the recognition even more special is the story behind the restaurant. After the sudden passing of founder Joseph "Papa Joe" Oneail in 2025, the Milford community came together to help preserve the beloved eatery and its legacy.
On TripAdvisor, one customer simply called the burgers "delicious," while many praised the generous portions and welcoming atmosphere. Looking at the photos alone, it's easy to understand why burger lovers keep coming back.

Of course, New Hampshire is packed with burger spots that could make a strong case for the title. Places like Ellacoya Barn & Grille in Gilford, Tuckaway Tavern in Raymond, Hop + Grind in Durham, and Black Mountain Burger Co. in Lincoln all have devoted followings and are frequently mentioned among the state's best.
Still, there's something special about a local, family-owned restaurant earning national recognition.
And now, I think I have another road trip destination to add to my foodie bucket list. Hooray!
