Why This New Hampshire Nonprofit Giving Free Rides to Those in Need Inspires Me as a Mother
As a mother, one of the most important lessons I hope to teach my daughter is the value of helping others and being involved in the community around us. I want her to grow up understanding that kindness matters, showing up for people matters, and even the smallest act of compassion can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
That’s why learning about I Got Bridged truly touched my heart.
Based in Portsmouth, I Got Bridged is a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals access essential services through reliable transportation. According to its website, every day, they provide rides to medical appointments, food pantries, recovery meetings, church services, and community meals for people who might struggle to get there.
But what stood out to me most wasn’t just the transportation itself; it was the dedication to community connection.
One of the incredible services that they offer is on Tuesdays. The “Bridged Breakfast Club” (a partnership with Mainspring) helps residents come together for breakfast, conversation, laughter, and companionship while also providing transportation.
Their message on Facebook says it perfectly:
“What may look like a simple breakfast outing is really about belonging. Making sure people feel included, seen, and connected to others in their community is what we are striving for.”
How true! Community is about human connection.
In a world where so many people experience loneliness, isolation, or hardship, organizations like I Got Bridged remind us that caring for others can be as simple as making sure someone has a seat at the table, a ride to where they need to go, or a conversation that makes them feel valued.
I LOVE helping others and paying it forward whenever I can, so I find their mission incredibly inspiring!
Not to mention an important example for children to witness. I want my daughter to grow up seeing people support one another. I want her to understand that being involved in your community is part of building a kinder world.
I Got Bridged is doing exactly that. They are helping people feel seen.
And to me, that’s one of the most powerful forms of service there is.
Organizations like I Got Bridged are a reminder that strong communities are built when people care enough to help one another... not because they have to, but because they genuinely want to.
