This is sad news for a very popular restaurant in Hampton.
According to their Facebook page, Smuttynose Brewing Company's Restaurant in Hampton has to close indefinitely.

Imagine walking in to the restaurant and finding the entire building flooded. The cold weather and snow led to the sprinkler system malfunctioning.
The Mystery of the Damage
Because they do not know exactly what the damage is yet, they have closed indefinitely.
Ghostly Tales and Local Lore
There was a comment on Facebook that made reference to the Ghost of Towle Farm.
Nick said:
It's the ghost of Towle Farm across the driveway in the brewery for all those years. I think we pissed It off when the decision to move the house to its current location and build the Brewing facility in its place. Seems as though there's no one to bother in the brewery, it's found its way into the old bones of that house once again.
The comment is making reference to the James House located at 186 Towle Farm Road. The Smuttynose Property is right across the street.
The James House has been examined by Spirit Chasers who announced haunted happenings in the newspapers. The evidence of spirits was very strong that there was, in fact, a ghost in the house. Is this just ghostly mischief?
The Restaurant Owners Focused on Recovery
I'm sure the owners of the restaurant are not thinking of ghosts and goblins that may or may not have caused the flood. They are thinking of calling the insurance companies and contractors to clean up the mess.
We wish Smuttynose all the best and look forward to the opening once again!
