This New Hampshire County is Ranked the #1 Snowiest in the U.S.
If somebody asked me during Thursday night trivia what county is the snowiest in the entire country, I would have said whatever County Fairbanks, Alaska is in. My second guess would have been whatever County Fargo, North Dakota is in because I saw the movie and there's nothing but snow there, I'm convinced, don'cha know.
The New England states would probably be around 5th or 6th down my list. Probably because I live here and I don't think we have it THAT bad when it comes to snowfall, but color me incorrect.
Would you have guessed that Coos county was ranked the #1 snowiest county in America? That was not on my Bingo card, but it's true and here's why, according to lawnlove.com.
- The average snowfall per season is over three feet. 3.4 feet to be exact.
- Record snowfall in one day is 49.3 inchest, that's over 4 feet
- Record snowfall over the course of three days is 91.1 inches or 7.6 feet. What the hell, man....
- Average annual temperature is 43.3 degrees Fahrenheit. Coos county ranked #22 in that particular stat.
- Average of extremely cold days below 32 degrees Fahrenheit is 238. That's almost 8 months out of the year, they have extremely cold days.
If you don't live in New England, you might be asking yourself, WHY do people live here. I'll be honest, there are days when it's so cold and snowy, I ask myself that very same question, BUT, unless you've been warm and toasty in your house with a fire going and a snowstorm outside that prevents you from doing anything but enjoy the majesty of Mother Nature, you wouldn't understand. That's just one of reasons why I'll never leave New England.
