Man Dies After Jumping From Maine-New Hampshire Bridge Into Piscataqua River
A man died as a result of jumping off the Interstate-95 bridge into the Piscataqua River on Thursday, according to the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol.
The man, who was not identified, was driving on the I-95 bridge that connects Maine and New Hampshire when he allegedly stopped his vehicle around 9 a.m. and jumped into the Pisctataqua River below, according to Marine Patrol Sgt. Steve O'Connor.
The man was recovered from the river by a military boat that patrols the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the area, O'Connor told Seacoast Current. Persons on scene began administering CPR on the man until Marine Patrol arrived on scene, per O'Connor.
Upon arrival by Marine Patrol, the man was brought to Prescott Park where CPR efforts continued until ambulances arrived, O'Connor said, adding that the man was then transferred to Portsmouth Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
