How Irish are you?

Well, if you live in New England your odds are much higher than the rest of the country.

And while Massachusetts has some wicked Irish parades on St. Patrick's Day, you might really be surprised to know that The Bay State is not the most Irish in the United States. Yup.

New Hampshire Is the Most Irish State in the United States

According to U.S. News & World Report per information from the U.S. Census Bureau, it's neighboring New Hampshire that lands the lead place with 20 percent of the state’s residents being Irish.

The report states that a whopping 31 million Americans have Irish roots, and a good majority of those are in New England.

Would you have guessed the Granite State?

Most Irish States in the United States

As for Massachusetts with its massive St. Patrick's Day Parade and numerous Irish movie references (we see you, "The Departed"), that state lands the No. 2 spot with about 18 percent.

Close behind are Vermont, Rhode Island and Maine, all about 16 percent. New England caps things off to completion with Connecticut taking the No. 8 spot. (Did you forget about Connecticut? You did, didn't you.)

Were you surprised by the results? Not surprised at all?

Or are you're just ready to get back to grabbing a delicious cold brew and celebrating in the name of St. Patrick?

After all, aren't we all a little Irish on St. Patrick's Day?

Cheers to you.
