Newburyport is a hip town and if you haven't been in a while, you really should make a day of it.  Newburyport is cool, and not just because part of my family lives there. Okay, maybe that's part of it. But it's also cool because of all the art you will see when you just walk around the town.

The Newburyport Art Association is located on 65 Water Street with all kinds of outdoor sculptures pictured below. This association is particularly near and dear to my heart. At one point, I was going to become an artist. Like, for real. It all started with those, "Can You Draw This Turtle?" ads that we used to see in magazines. Those articles had me hooked. Not only could you have fun drawing, but you could also be awarded cash money!

Check out this mentalfloss.com article I found that shows the old ad. Pretty cool stuff. Anyway, I used to take art classes from the Newburyport Art Association and I just loved them. It gave me a super creative outlet and I was able to build a community by being there.

Since COVID-19 showed up, NBT Art Galleries have been closed, but you can still walk around and see really cool sculptures. Check them out!
