You might remember on March 15, 2021, we wrote an article about 2 men who wanted to help hunger relief organizations who have suffered through the pandemic.

According to a press release, they have raised more than $250,000!

If you are not familiar with the back story, real estate developers Mark Stebbins of  XSS Hotels and Jeff Johnstone of Cathartes got together to create "Portsmouth Together 200 Challenge."  The purpose of the organization was to try and help art/performance spaces and hunger relief organizations who have suffered throughout the pandemic.

The two men wanted to provide "the last bridge" to this Summer which was at that time, approximately 100 days.  Stebbins and Johnstone would match up to $100,000 from everyone who donated to the cause.

That goal was met in 30 days, so they decided to increase the goal to $250,000.

From the previous article written, all the money donated will benefit the following organizations, according to their website, together200.org:

  • Take Out Hunger @ takeouthunger.org.
  • Gather @ GatherNH.org
  • Cross Roads House @ Crossroadshouse.org
  • The Music Hall @  TheMusicHall.org.
  • 3S Artspace @ 3sarts.org
  • Prescott Park Arts Festival @ Prescottpark.org
  • Portsmouth Music and Arts Center @ pmcaonlne.org
  • Seacoast Repertory Theatre @ Seacoastrep.org

Deb Anthony Executive Director of Gather said in the Press Release:

All of the participating non-profits and restaurants are incredibly grateful to Jeff Johnston of Cathartes and Mark Stebbins of XSS for their leadership and generosity to help those in need make it beyond the COVID epidemic.  The way the entire community rose to the challenge was inspiring. We all have different stories about how COVID has negatively affected us. I can certainly speak to the increased hardship to those who hunger brought on by the epidemic. Mark and Jeff had made a difference to them and to all the organizations they have helped.

Although this campaign has ended, you can still give to the organizations through the Together 200 website and the money raised will go directly to the organizations.
