A participant in a race for waiters during Newburyport's Yankee Homecoming Week collapsed to the ground and was unconscious moments after hoisting a trophy in the air.

Newburyport Police Department officials confirmed to Seacoast Current that Paul Rose, a manager at the Brick & Ash restaurant, was revived in an ambulance to Anna Jacques and later transferred to Lahey Hospital in Burlington. A Lahey hospital spokeswoman on Wednesday said she had no information about a patient by that name.

Servers from several different restaurants each carry a tray through an obstacle course, according to the Newburyport Daily News which was first to report on this incident. The Brick & Ash said on its Facebook page it would be closed on Wednesday and Thursday but would reopen on Friday.
