The Cumberland Fairgrounds will be rocking this June. Yes, well before fair season kicks off. After a two year pandemic hiatus, the Wicked Maine Outdoor Festival is back.
The very popular festival had just taken off when the Covid outbreak hit. Fortunately, it's finally back for the 2nd annual edition on June 25. The first event was a tremendous success, with the festival reporting over 2,000 attendees.
The Wicked Maine Outdoor Fest is a celebration of the state's amazing outdoor activity community. The festival includes plenty of activities to satisfy any outdoorsman. The activities include climbing, heath and fitness, sustainability, local Maine getaways, a "Made in Maine" section, and much more.
Judging by some of the 2019 images, the "and more" looks pretty sweet. Axe throwing, lumberjack stuff, cornhole, and a giant backpack are just a few of the events that were featured in the inaugural edition. One would think some or many of those would be back for the 2022 version.
The focus on local is strong, especially when it comes to arts and eats. The Wicked Maine Outdoor Fest will have a spot for shopping that features items from local artists and designers, which is always a popular spot at an event in Maine. There will be local food trucks, craft beer, and more.
Tickets for adults are $10, and kids under 12 are free. And, in a very cool gesture, proceeds from the event will benefit Girl Scouts of Maine outdoor programs and activities. It's a very nice tie-in for this festival that promotes Maine's incredible natural resources.
Here's hoping to another good turnout.
