Shoplifters Make Getaway on Bus, Police Say
Two men police say shoplifted $1,600 worth of clothes from a Marshalls store tried to make their getaway on a bus, according to Newburyport police.
Police say Peter Beebie, 29, of Bradford and Dennis Curley, 31, of Haverhill walked into the Marshalls on Route 113 in Newburyport on Wednesday afternoon around 4:40 p.m. and stuffed two garbage bags full of clothing before running out the door towards the Kmart plaza next door.
An officer responding to the store found Beebie and Curley on a bus after noticing two men waiting at a bus stop with several bags. The bags were found with Marshalls price tags still on them and on store hangers, according to police
Beebie and Curley were removed from the bus and placed under arrest each on a charge of larceny from a building and conspiracy. They were also found to have outstanding warrants.
