Name trends have always fascinated me. Names, similar to fashion trends, are cyclical. In 2023, we are now rocking wide bell-bottomed jeans just like our forefathers did in the 1970s. The moral of the story? NEVER donate your bell-bottoms. They will always come back in style.

My friends are having babies left and right, so I can tell you what names are hot right now, at least in my circle of friends. Olivia is by far the most common girl name. I have three friends that had babies named Olivia within four months of each other. It's a beautiful name with so many opportunities for nicknames (which I love) such as Liv, Livy, etc. The most popular boy name among my friend group is Liam. I also have three friends who have boys named Liam, though they weren't born as closely together as the Olivia squad.

Names.org recently released their list of the Most Popular Baby Names in New Hampshire in 2023. It was fun to compare statewide trends to those in my friend group. This info is based on on Social Security Administration data on births and user interest on its website.

As you can see, my friend group is well aligned with the most popular baby names in New Hampshire, with "Liam" and "Olivia" both topping the lists. I also noticed that many "old school" names are resurfacing, and I really like that! Theodore, Abigail and Evelyn strike me as names that were popular in the early 1900s. I love that they are becoming popular again!
