A Barnstead house was left uninhabitable and a boat and car destroyed by a fire on Sunday afternoon that started in a garage.

The fire at the home on Barnstead Road spread from the garage to a house basement, first floor, and attic, according to Barnstead Fire and Rescue, and caused heat damage to a second structure.

A brush fire blamed on the house fire was contained and also brought under control as well.

The Gilmonton Fire Department said a hydrant near the house was dry and a tanker truck had to bring 2,500 gallons of water to the fire.

No one was injured in the fire, according to the fire department, but two adults and a child were displaced and were being assisted by the Red Cross of Northern New England.

Barnstead fire captain Brian Cottrell thank neighbors for bring food and drinks for the firefighers who responded to the blaze.
