One of my favorite things to do around the Christmas holiday is take a trip in-state to a new establishment to eat. My wife and I will drive hours based on a review, article, tip, or social media post.
It's fun, adventurous, and always satisfies the pallet.
While traveling this state, we have found amazing diners, great pubs, outstanding sandwich shops, and more. And some of them truly know how to tie in the holiday season and spirit.
Maine's Restaurant Scene
It's fun to get wrapped up spending massive amounts of time discussing and dissecting every little aspect about Maine's restaurant scene. Quite frankly, it deserves it. Whether it's the busy southern coast, western foothills, Midcoast, or Bar Harbor, it doesn't matter, because you will find excellent food.
With this being the case, it's easy for us Mainers to have our favorites. This includes our former neighbors and family who have moved out of state.
However, once a Mainer, always a Mainer. This includes having the true staples you never forget about. And when back in Maine, they are a must to hit up, especially when home for the holidays. There's nothing like visiting your favorite spot during the most festive time of the year.
