If you know me, you know how much I am obsessed with Barrio. God bless them and the work they do! Whenever anyone visits, we make sure to plan a meal at Barrio so they can enjoy the full Portsmouth experience. They are never disappointed.

Barrio's La Tierra Taco is my love language. La Tierra = bombshell (flour soft+corn hard+queso+crumbled bacon), coca-cola marinated steak (yup, you read that correctly, steak marinated in SODA!), pan-seared portobellos, caramelized onions & poblanos, chihuahua, secret sauce, cilantro aioli. GET IN MY BELLY.

If you have never been to Barrio, picture "Day of the Dead" décor, mouth watering signature and build-your-own tacos, and scrumptious cocktails.

Their patio in the Summer is my happy place:

Along with Portsmouth, Barrio also has a location in Haverhill, Massachusetts. And it was posted to the Salem Food Digest Facebook page recently that the people of Salem, Massachusetts, are in for quite the treat. The third Barrio location will be opening in Salem some time in May! This means North Shore peeps no longer need to road trip to Portsmouth or Haverhill to satisfy their Barrio fix. What a time to be alive!

The post said Barrio Salem will be in the old Kokeshi space that sits between lower Lafayette Street and Central Street.  The space will remain much the same, as they plan no major demo work.
