We don't have to agree on everything, but this could be the one thing I think we all can agree on.

Portland, Maine, is absolutely gorgeous in the fall and exudes the most perfect autumn aesthetic.

Maine winters are brutal, but summertime and that cozy fall transitional period the city gives off make barreling through the winter months totally worth it.

Now, a major news source is even recognizing Portland for its underrated seasonal beauty!

According to USA Today, Portland has just been named the No. 1 coziest fall city in the US.

The news publication suggests that people "take a hike or bike out to the abundant trails around the area, like at Cape Elizabeth or Camden Hills State Park, to take in the intense fall colors."

I'd have to say taking a ride near any beach you can find and soaking in the fresh ocean air that rolls off of it without the summer crowd there to pollute it is the way to go.

It's also an awesome time to bring your pups on a beach romp as most beaches are dog-friendly in the off-seasons.

Higgins Beach in Scarborough is one of my go-to's to bring my own pup as many others follow suit there. It's always a dog party and always a guaranteed way to tire yours out. Willard Beach is another one I'd suggest. Easy to get to, and there's typically always a clan of pups ready to play with yours.
