It was announced last month that this was going to happen, but I'm sure the news is still shocking for so many.
According to Boston25news.com, Mass General Brigham, the largest employer in Massachusetts, has begun the second round of layoffs that was announced last month.
Layoffs Could Affect Several Hospitals
This round of layoffs, part of the hospitals largest layoffs in history, could affect 12 hospitals that are currently under the Mass General Brigham umbrella.
Some of those hospitals that many people who live on the Seacoast of New Hampshire go to include:
- Mass General Hospital, 55 Fruit Street, Boston
- Mass Eye and Ear 243 Charles Street, Boston
- Brigham and Women’s Hospital, 75 Francis Street, Boston
- Spaulding Rehab Hospital, 300 1st Avenue, Charlestown
- Newton-Wellesley Hospital, 2014 Washington Street, Newton
- Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, 789 Central Avenue, Dover, New Hampshire
The first round of layoffs affected Wentworth-Douglass Hospital on Central Avenue in Dover, New Hampshire.

In 2021, according to bostonglobe.com, the CEO of Mass General Brigham topped the list of highest paid executives. In the second year of the pandemic, the article states a $5.38 million annual paycheck.
