I have fond memories of the Hooters location on Route 1 in Saugus, Massachusetts.

In 2018, my husband was in a terrible accident when he was hit by a car while crossing the street in Beverly, Massachusetts. We had to drive to and from Boston for tons of doctors appointments, surgeries, physical therapy, etc.

We would pass the Saugus Hooters on our way to and from the city. On a few particularly hard or draining days, I took my husband there to perk his spirits. Some delicious wings and perky...waitresses...cheered him right up!

This week, we received the news that Hooters is closing 41 locations across the nation. As highlighted in the video below, the chain is not doing well. As of 2018, there were 333 locations nationwide, and we're now down to 293.

Of course, hearing this news made me concerned for our nearest and dearest Hooters location in Saugus. But for the time being, it appears we are safe.

Most of the closing Hooters locations are down south in Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, Maryland, and Virginia.

According to a post from back in May on the unofficial Rt 1 Saugus Hooters Facebook page, it appears they were/are hiring!

The Saugus Hooters has been operating since 2008. Hopefully I don't eat my words, but since it is in such a prime location (paired with the lack of other Hooters locations in neighboring states), this writer believes that they'll be just fine for the foreseeable future.
