Have you ever watched the 1981 movie "On Golden Pond"? Man, what a classic!  The film recently returned to select theaters to celebrate its 40th anniversary:

It was a family affair

Many people know that movie was based on a play that came out in 1979. According to Jane Fonda's website, she purchased the rights to the play specifically for her father Henry Fonda. I guess he was a shoo-in for the role of Norman Thayer who was kind of a curmudgeon. If you felt that the tension between Norman and his daughter Chelsea was a little too real in the film, that's because it wasn't too far off from the Fonda's real-life dynamic.

The film was great for Jane Fonda's career! It even landed her this Mentos commercial (that has absolutely nothing to do with Mentos)

If you've seen the movie, chances are you wished your family had an awesome lake house like the Thayers, I know I did! It was just so home-y it made me want to move right in. A really sweet detail that the set designer thought of was to cover the walls in the house with family photos. It really gave you a sense of the family’s history in the house.

Sadly Golden Pond doesn't exist, the movie was filmed on New Hampshire's own Squam Lake!  If you are looking to live out your "On Golden Pond" dreams this Summer, I have found the perfect cabin for you! There is a house in Holderness, New Hampshire, for sale and it is on the very same lake that Jane Fonda did the backstroke in so vigorously in the '80s!

It's priced at $3,200,000 which is beyond my price range but it's always fun to look, right?
